- Should you use a salesperson*?
- Well, let's see . . . Are you available to show the
property? Do you have the time to do marketing? Do you have the
expertise to negotiate? Do you know what paperwork is legally required
to complete a transaction? If you answered "yes" to these four
questions, then, no, you don't need a salesperson.
|
- A point I hear frequently is that a buyer will get a
better deal from a seller who isn't using a salesperson because the
savings of the real estate commission passes onto the buyer. That is not
correct. The value of the house is the value of the house, it has
nothing to do with whether or not the seller uses a salesperson. The
buyer gains no financial advantage.
|
- I will offer other licensees a good portion of the
commission you pay as an incentive for them to show their clients your
property.
|
- *Note: Let's define some terms. A licensed
salesperson is licensed to sell real estate in Alaska. A Realtor® is a
licensed salesperson who is also a member of an outstanding organization
guided by a code of ethics. Not all Anchorage licensed salespersons are
Realtors®. Beware. Cheaper is not necessarily better. Both Paula and I
are licensed salespersons and we are Realtors®.
