Where do ANC airport employees live? Here is an interesting brochure.
Since retiring from commercial flying, I have time to help clients sell or purchase properties throughout the state. Road trip? You bet! Just ask me.
The best housing search website for Alaska is the Alaska Multiple Listing Service. The information is current. Housing info is sent from Alaska MLS to the aggregate sites like Zillow, Redfin, etc., so they lag by a few days or even several months. Why not go to the most current site first? http://www.alaskarealestate.com is it! It is easy to set you up with automatic emails from AlaskaMLS if you give me the details of your wish list.
Alaska is one of the few non-disclosure states. We are NOT required to inform the local government of the sales price of our property. Some aggregate sites offer an "accuracy" meter for their prices. If you look at their accuracy in Alaska you'll see that their pricing is not at all accurate. This is because they have no information. All their prices are guesses. Property taxes are based upon guesses. The Alaska MLS requires its participants to inform them of sales prices and Alaska MLS then shares this information with its participants. I am a participant! My professional guesses are based upon FACTS.
Anchorage has a "crime map" public website. You can see crimes reported around town on the map. Also, the Anchorage School District has the individual school "report cards" posted on its website to check on district schools' performance. Find the Alaska sex-offender database here.
I like to use an app on my cell phone called Smarter Agent. You can use it too, if you text the words DYNAMIC to 87778. This app uses your location to show you property listings nearby. So, if you're parked in front of a "for sale" sign and you want to know more, just pull up Smarter Agent on your phone and the listing will likely appear.
